Latex balloons and catheters for Left Ventricular Pressure (LVP) measurements in rat and larger mouse Langendorff experiments can be purchase HERE and HERE, respectively.
However, for most mouse (and rat if user preferred) Langendorff experiments, users will need to make their own balloons with either a plastic cling wrap, like "Saran Wrap", or the tip of a latex condom. Of the two materials, cling wrap is preferred if dP/dt is to be calculated from the LVP waveform, due to its much lower lower elasticity when compared to latex. Detailed instructions for constructing an LVP balloon and its associated catheter can be found HERE. Note, the balloon, catheter, and associated Physiological Pressure Transducer will need to be filled with isotonic saline and all air bubbles removed for the LVP signal to be recorded correctly.
