Several issues may cause the LabChart 7 for Mac software to fail to recognize a PowerLab connected to your computer.
Generally turning the PowerLab off and on again will resolve the issue. If repeated attempts fails to resolve the issue, the cause may be a settings in the preferences has been set to launch LabChart in Analysis mode.


Launch LabChart 7 for Mac and select: LabChart > Preferences > PowerLab Startup:
Open the PowerLab Startup menu and make sure the "Always start in analysis mode" is unchecked:
Click OK. This solution applies to LabChart for Mac 7.x.
