How do I calibrate Kaha telemeters?

All Kaha Telemeters are factory calibrated using tightly controlled conditions. Under these conditions, the voltage analog outputs correspond to specific values for each unique telemeter signal.

The analog outputs on SmartPad for each Rat telemeter model can be found HERE. The corresponding calibration values are in the following table:

Type of Signal Calibration Values Relevant Telemeter model
Pressure

1V = 0 mmHg

2V = 100 mmHg

Pressure Telemeter (TRM54P)

Dual Pressure Telemeter (TRM54PP)

Pressure Biopotential Telemeter (TRM54PB)

SNA and Pressure Telemeter (TRM56SP)

Biopotential

2V = 0 mV

4V = 2 mV

Biopotential Telemeter (TR50B)

Dual Biopotential Telemeter (TR50BB)

Pressure Biopotential Telemeter (TRM54PB)

SNA

2V = 0 µV

4V = 60 µV

SNA and Pressure Telemeter (TRM56SP)
Oxygen

1V = 0 nA

2V = -200 nA

Tissue Oxygen Telemeter (TR57Y)
Temperature

0V = 0°C

1V = 20°C

All Rat Telemeters

The analog outputs on tBase for mouse biopotential telemeter studies can be found HERE. The corresponding calibration values are:

Type of Signal Calibration Values
Activity

0V = 0 RAU

3.84V = 10 RAU

Biopotential

2.048V = 0mV

4.096V = 2.5mV

Data Received

*Not added to Units conversion

~0V = no data received

~3.3V = data received

You may enter these values directly into the "Units Conversion" dialog box found under Channel drop-down menu and change to the relevant Units (See picture):
