New physiology educators' course "one of a kind" in the US

In conjunction with the American Physiological Society (APS), ADInstruments is sponsoring the inaugural Institute on Teaching and Learning (ITL) - a new hands-on course for physiology educators.

The ITL aims to engage educators from community college through professional school in interactive sessions on best practices in physiology education. It will explore important aspects of teaching, learning and assessment and organizers hope to encourage research collaborations among educators to continually promote the effective teaching of physiology.

Dr Barbara Goodman of the University of South Dakota, one of the organizers of the ITL, says the workshop is something the teaching section has wanted to implement for a long time.

“The ITL will be one of a kind in the US as most meetings of physiology scientists and educators happen during the academic year in expensive convention cities. This makes it unlikely that undergraduate physiology faculty can attend, so we are hoping to start a physiology educator community of practice.”

The ITL will be held June 23-27, 2014 in Bar Harbor, ME. Visit their website to read more and register.
