Surgical adhesives and off-the-shelf superglues will not damage the catheter initially; however, Millar and ADInstruments strongly recommend against their use for repeated, acute catheter implantation. This recommendation is due to the difficulty in cleaning adhesives off the catheter body after every use, significantly increasing the chances of damaging the catheter.
Suppose an adhesive must be used for a particular application. In that case, Millar suggests only using purpose-made surgical adhesives such as Histoacryl from Braun or VetBond from 3M, as off-the-shelf "super glue" chemical compositions can vary widely between brands.
