Surgical adhesives and off-the-shelf "super glues" will not damage the catheter initially; however, Millar and ADInstruments strongly recommends against their use for repeated, acute catheter implantation. This recommendation is due to the difficulty in cleaning adhesives off the catheter body after every use, which significantly increases the chances of damaging the catheter.
If an adhesive must be used for a particular application, Millar suggests only using purpose made surgical adhesives such as Histoacryl from Braun or VetBond from 3M, as off-the-shelf "super glue" chemical compositions can vary widely between brands.
