The pressure sensor is located between the 2nd and 3rd electrode. The catheter uses a low-profile connector for the pressure sensor and redel for the volume conductance. It is designed for use with the MPVS-300 and the MPVS-400 control units only via a PEC-4D for pressure and CEC-4B for volume, but is NOT compatible with the MPVS Ultra. The SPR-866 is reusable and can be repaired.

Overview

Millar Pressure-Volume (PV) catheters have revolutionized cardiovascular research in small animals. These ultra-miniature catheters are capable of measuring left ventricular pressure and volume simultaneously and continuously from the intact, beating hearts of mice. Built to the highest quality standards, the catheters combine a proven Mikro-Tip® pressure sensor with four electrodes to collect real-time pressure-volume data, enabling minimally invasive, continuous, intracardiac PV analysis.

Each contains four platinum electrodes arranged in two pairs. The paired electrodes are separated by 0.5 mm, while the distance between the pair varies between catheters. The pressure sensor is located in the center, between the two pairs of electrodes.

They can be used with:

MPVS PV-Units require the  MPVS Ultra Cable Pack  (purchased separately).

Calibration: A Pressure Gauge kit that provides the necessary items to calibrate the pressure transducers is available. The PV Loop Add-On for LabChart  provides step-by-step Workflows to guide you through the calibration process.

Millar Mikro-Tip Catheters require a certain level of care to ensure accuracy and the anticipated lifespan of your catheters. Tergazyme (Alconox, Inc.) is required for cleaning and ensuring the removal of proteinaceous soils, tissue, blood and body fluids from the catheter. Please refer to Alconox, Inc.’s website to purchase from your local supplier. For a few best practice tips to help get you started with your catheters, see our guide here. Additionally, the purchase of an ESD Adjustable Wrist Strap w/ 10’ Coil Cord (Blue, 4mm Snap) is highly recommended to protect these catheters from electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage during handling.
