Measure volume flow in laboratory tubing containing non-aerated liquids including water, saline, buffer solutions, blood, and other fluids, either by splicing into or clamping onto the tubing depending on the design. Tubing flowsensors provide reliable, stable measurements even under perturbed and non-steady flow conditions, for unparalleled accuracy and signature high resolution flow waveforms. Precalibrated for easy, immediate use

Transonic flowsensors are precalibrated and ready for immediate use. Data is recorded with a corresponding flowmeter module and via an Instrument Interface and/or PowerLab into LabChart software, where flexible recording options and real-time calculations are available.

Clamp-on Flowsensors (3-32mm outer diameter)

PXL Series sensors “clamp-on” to most flexible laboratory and extracorporeal tubing. They provide total physical and electrical isolation is maintained between the sensor and the liquid, and thus ideal for quick, repeatable process testing that is applied to multiple circuits without flow interruption. Applications include artificial heart and VAD performance, medical device and pump engineering, manufacturing and compliance flow testing. Different options are available for tubing outer diameter measured in inches and mm. Each flowsensor is supplied standard with 2 m cable and a CC16 16-pin metal connector.

The ME25PXN Precision Inline Flowsensor mates easily with flexible laboratory tubing for volume flow measurement and can be calibrated for up to four fluid, temperature, and flow rate combinations. The flowsensor is supplied with a 1.85 m cable, and a CC16 or CP16 16-pin metal connector.

    Flowsensor slot calibration options (up to four slots per flowsensor) include: 
    fld (fluid) = KR for Krebs, BL for blood, H2O for water/saline, GL for 40% Glycerine/60% Water (by vol) 
    tem (temperature  in degrees Celsius ) =  23 or 37 (standard temperatures) or TX (where X is specified between 19-40 for a custom temperature within this range)
    flow = flow rate (SF for standard flow, LF for low flow or ULF ultra low flow)

    Please note: 

    • Additional calibration charges may apply depending on required calibration configurations.
    • Calibration with custom fluids (including different percentages of Glycerine and Water) are no longer available
    • Tubing type and size (inside diameter x wall x outside diameter) must be additionally specified when ordering PXL flowsensors.  A tubing sample (minimum length of 2 ft or 60 cm) is required to be sent for the factory calibration process if non-stock tubing are used in the experiment. For example:
      • Tygon ND 100-65 (1/4” inside diameter x 1/16” wall x 3/8” outside diameter)
      • Tygon E-3603 (1/4” inside diameter x 1/16” wall x 3/8” outside diameter)

    Pre-consultation is highly recommended before flowsensor selection.
