Pulse and Plethysmography

Pulse Oximetry and Plethysmography are non-invasive circulatory assessment methods used in blood flow monitoring, and both methods are supported by PowerLab and LabChart.

Pulse oximetry is used to measure the oxygen level (oxygen saturation) of the blood. It is an easy, painless measure of how well oxygen is being sent to parts of the body furthest from the heart, like the arms and legs.

Get full resolution on small signals

Our plethysmographs are AC coupled devices and so the ‘AC coupling’ option available on all current PowerLabs should be used. This allows the PowerLab range to be lowered to get full 16 bit resolution on these small signals.
