Mouse PV Catheters

Millar offers the world's only solid-state Pressure-Volume (PV) catheters for cardiovascular research in mice.

Overview

Millar offers the world's only solid-state Pressure-Volume (PV) catheters for cardiovascular research in mice.

These ultra-miniature catheters combine both pressure sensors and electrodes for simultaneous measurement of left or right ventricular pressure and volume measurements continuously from the intact, beating hearts of mice.

Built to the highest quality standards, Millar PV catheters provide end-diastolic, and end-systolic volumes, allowing researchers to calculate stroke volume, ejection fraction, cardiac output, stroke work, Tau, dP/dt Max and Min, contraction time, and relaxation time.

Each catheter combines a proven Mikro-Tip MEMs pressure sensor with four electrodes to collect real-time pressure-volume data, enabling minimally invasive, continuous, intracardiac PV analysis.

There are two versions of each catheter size available:

  • Those compatible with the Millar MPVS Duo Pressure-Volume System*
  • Those compatible with the traditional MPVS Ultra Pressure-Volume Systems (these systems are no longer sold, but supporting catheters are still available)

*These catheters are also compatible with ADV550 / ADV500 units previously sold by Transonic Scisense.

Non-repairable discount options are available for the Mouse PV Catheter (SPR-839 and SPR-839A only). Contact us to find out more and if this is the right option for you.

    Best Practice Care:

Millar Mikro-Tip Catheters require a certain level of care to ensure accuracy and the anticipated lifespan of your catheters.

    • Tergazyme (Alconox, Inc.) is required for cleaning and ensuring the removal of proteinaceous soils, tissue, blood and body fluids from the catheter. Please refer to Alconox, Inc.’s website to purchase from your local supplier.
    • For MPVS Ultra Compatible Catheters - purchase of an ESD Adjustable Wrist Strap w/ 10’ Coil Cord (Blue, 4mm Snap) is highly recommended to protect these catheters from electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage during handling. These straps are not required for MPVS Duo compatible catheters.
    • For a few best practice tips to help get you started with your catheters, see our guide here.

    Calibration:

    • MPVS Duo compatible catheters: The MPVS Duo provides step-by-step workflows to guide you through the calibration process.
    • MPVS Ultra compatible catheters: The PV Loop Add-On for LabChart provides step-by-step Workflows to guide you through the calibration process.
