Radnoti 1.0 µm Glass Fiber Filters
Perfusate Filters
Overview
A pack of 15 Glass Fiber Filters with a pore size of 1.0 µm, which is designed for laboratory use only. It has a 37 mm diameter polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) membrane, which is unaffected by most organic solvents, concentrated acids and bases, propellants, and cryogenic fluids. The membrane can handle a 7.5 Max PSI. It has a female Luer-lock inlet and male slip Luer outlet.
It can be used to filter the perfusate, which is especially useful during recirculation of effluent in isolated heart setups. When the isolated heart of Langendorff and Working Heart setups are being perfused, released proteins by the heart in the effluent can cause foaming and the formation of embolites.
Insertion of a filter in the pump output line can remove these proteins and other precipitates that may exist in the solution. The filter may then be easily removed at the end of the experiment and replaced before the next experiment is started, which provides an advantage over setups that incorporate the filter as a permanent fixture in the design, necessitating extensive cleaning procedures of the entire apparatus after each use.
Additionally, it can be used for gas/air filtration. Use caution with syringes less than 10cc.
