Radnoti Bubble Trap Compliance Chamber
Overview
The Radnoti Bubble Trap Compliance Chamber is extensively used in Radnoti perfusion apparatuses, including Isolated Liver/Kidney, Langendorff, Working Heart. It is a bubble trap and compliance chamber that traps any air bubbles in the perfusate flowing in, serves as a dampener or shock absorber for pulsation related to pump mechanics, and is completely water jacketed for accurate temperature control.
Using a compatible 1-Way Tap, the top vent port allows for priming of the chamber and adjustment of the dead air space to be maintained in the trap. Typically the dead air volume will serve as a dampener or shock absorber for pulsation related to pump mechanics.
Inflow and outflow ports are fitted with threaded luer lock ports to allow secure connection of perfusate lines. The bottom inflow port has an alleviated tube that allows a constant flow of perfusate solution into the chamber bubble trap where any air bubbles float up and are collected at the top. Bubble free solution flows out through its outflow port on the other side of the inflow port. Any excess solution can be returned back to the source (i.e. reservoir) via its top overflow port if required.
The design allows the flow rate to be fixed at a rate higher than the anticipated requirement, in which the excess solution is returned to the source via its overflow port. Hence, changes in the demand of flow are accommodated without having to adjust pump delivery speed mid experiment. It is also ideal in constant pressure protocols where pressure is set via the elevation of the bubble trap and variances in flow rate are determined by the sample during contraction or dilation.
Therefore, it is an important water jacketed component to Radnoti perfusion circuits and attaches to the apparatus via its matching 120149RC Single Ring Clamp for Compliance Bubble Trap (5 mL).
