Microneurography

Directly record and analyze peripheral nerve activity from humans using microneurography.

Microneurography is a technique that uses metal electrodes to record neural impulse traffic of both myelinated and unmyelinated axons in efferent and afferent neurons of the skin and muscle. By doing this, the technique can provide information about the neurophysiology of nerve fibers in the peripheral nervous system.

Microneurography can be performed using ADInstruments Neuro Amp EX together with a PowerLab for data acquisition. The Neuro Amp EX is a low-noise, high-gain amplifier which has a wide range of filters and is certified safe for human connection.

Use LabChart and PowerLab with the Neuro Amp EX to analyse neural activity in human subjects - it's certified safe for human connection. Six gold connectors are supplied for customization of microelectrode adapters. A human-approved isolated stimulator is also available for superficial detection and activation of nerves.

In conjunction with our solutions shown below, any device with an analog output (+/- 10V) can be connected to a PowerLab data acquisition system for synchronization of event in LabChart. So you have even more flexibility and can integrate all your data streams in one place.

Microneurography is a highly skilled invasive technique that requires 1-2 months of training in a laboratory that uses it routinely. Institutional Review Boards (Human Research Ethics Committees) will require evidence of proficiency before granting approval.
