Overview
For years, the isolated perfused rodent liver (IPRL) model has been used to investigate the physiology and pathophysiology of the liver and has remained a reliable and popular reperfusion model for a range of applications including:
- Liver role studies
- Liver relationship to insulin and hormonal regulation
- Liver damage assessment
- Liver preservation and transplantation studies
Therefore, the ADInstruments Isolated Rodent Liver/Kidney Recirculating Apparatus is designed to be configurable to physiologically perfuse either an isolated rodent (rat or mouse) liver or kidney preparation in either recirculating or non-recirculating experimental protocols. Although primarily designed to study hepatic function in rodents, some researchers have adapted the apparatus themselves to be used with other species such as rainbow trout.
The apparatus requries pairing with:
- a bench-top, general-purpose, Radnoti Thermal Bath/Circulator
- Allows temperature control in the range from ambient temperature to 120°C with a stability level of ± 0.05°
- a ML1712 Radnoti Masterflex Peristaltic Pump (1-100 rpm, Dual Head)
- Provides option to perfuse at constant pressure or constant flow
- Provides option to recirculate the perfusate
Additionally, its modular design and quick-disconnect tubings (allow for quick and easy tubing assembly/disassembly) provide easy customization, modifications, and additions that are tailored to current or future needs.
The apparatus can easily be instrumented with a range of compatible measurement tools (purchased separately) including:
- A PowerLab and LabChart Pro data acquisition system that provides powerful real-time and offline analysis features including the Peak Analysis, Dose-Response, and Video capture Add-Ons
- Physiological Pressure Transducers with Amplifiers (Bridge Amp)
- Volume flowmeter and flowsensors
- Temperature sensors
Accessories (purchased separately)
- Pressure Gauge Kit
- Transducer Bracket
- Radnoti Tygon Perfusate Tubing (0.093" x 0.156", 50 ft)
- Spare In-vitro Liver/Kidney Perfusion Chamber
